I think we can all agree -- It's time to fire Dick Umile!
Sure, it's nice to win 20+ regular season games every season, but what good is that when
come tournament time you know your team is going to flop?
Recent Tournament Failures:
[2008] 7-3 First Round Loss to Notre Dame (UNH had been 4-0 all time against the Irish;
Notre Dame had won just 4 of their previous 13 games heading in).
[2007] 2-1 First Round Loss to Miami (Miami was making its first appearance in the NCAA
tourney. Offense disappears when the games matter most).
[2006] 1-0 First Round Loss to Michigan State (Nice to see that prolific offense disappear
once the games start to mean something).
[2005] 4-2 Quarterfinal Loss to Denver (UNH narrowly survives Harvard 3-2 in OT to make it to
the quarterfinal game).
[2004] 4-1 First Round Loss to Michigan (Isn't our offense supposed to be phenomenal? A lot
of good this offense does us when the games count).
[2003] 5-1 Championship Game Loss to Minnesota (Offense, where are you? Think of how
many couches were needlessly burned in frustration on Main Street in Durham. Furniture
should only be burned in celebration)!
[2002] 7-2 Semifinal Loss to Maine (Boy, that one hurt).
[2001] No Tournament Appearance
[2000] 4-1 First Round Loss to Niagara (It was Niagara's first year playing Division I hockey).
