Great win, but please start hitting BU from the moment the puck is
dropped. It was evident today that North Dakota out hit us all
game. Take every single chance you get to hit someone. Wear
your opponent down. We need toughness!
And don't settle for outside shots. Especially on the power play.
Get somebody in front of that net!
Sure, it's nice to win 20+ regular season games every season (although we more than likely won't win 20
games this season), but what good is that when come tournament time you know your team is going to
flop?
Recent Tournament Failures:
[2009] ?
[2008] 7-3 First Round Loss to Notre Dame (UNH had been 4-0 all time against the Irish; Notre Dame had
won just 4 of their previous 13 games heading in).
[2007] 2-1 First Round Loss to Miami (It was Miami's first ever NCAA tourney win. Offense disappears when
the games matter most).
[2006] 1-0 First Round Loss to Michigan State (Nice to see that prolific offense disappear once the games
start to mean something).
[2005] 4-2 Quarterfinal Loss to Denver (UNH narrowly survives Harvard 3-2 in OT to make it to the quarterfinal
game).
[2004] 4-1 First Round Loss to Michigan (Isn't our offense supposed to be phenomenal? A lot of good this
offense does us when the games count).
[2003] 5-1 Championship Game Loss to Minnesota (Offense, where are you? Think of how many couches
were needlessly burned in frustration on Main Street in Durham. Furniture should only be burned in
celebration)!
[2002] 7-2 Semifinal Loss to Maine (Boy, that one hurt).
[2001] No Tournament Appearance
[2000] 4-1 First Round Loss to Niagara (Niagara appeared in the NCAA tourney as the first winner of the newly
formed College Hockey America conference).
Did you know Dick Umile earned $382,299 in 2008?
How Disgusting is that? He made $170,000 in 2007.
He lost in the first round against Notre Dame and
they gave him $200k. ABSURD!
www.FireDickUmile.com gets a little publicity. UNH athletic director Marty Scarano has
seen the site. "'Fire Dick Umile' is still up and running," noted Scarano. "It's been up there
for six months. I guess I'd say I don't care." Oh, come on, Marty. Be serious. You've seen
the site. We all know Coach Umile has too!
PROPS -- you just shut my sorry ass up
for another year . . . can't wait for
tomorrow!

Let the fans be heard (even if some of them aren't the best with spelling):
UNH Hockey is like a flooded engine: Too Much Choke!!!
- Mark, Bedford
Poor performance, time for Umile and his big fat contract to move on.
- Mike, Concord
Yet again... Jerry York takes it to a Dick Umile coached team. Marty Scarano... are you listening? It's time for Umile to go...
- TB, Newmarket
"Great Job Wildcats"??? Huh? I suppose it's "great" if you enjoy coming in third in HE for the regular season and then (AGAIN) losing to
BC in the HE tournament. I respect Umile for what he has done for the UNH hockey program, but as long as he is there, the mediocrity
will continue. If that's enough for you, then keep him; but if you actually want to WIN a national championship (that is the real goal, isn't
it?), UMILE MUST GO.
- Mike, Bedford
This team was totally outcoached & out played this weekend. Shameful. They play with no heart, no edge. What a total disappointment.
The strategy sucks. They don't hit. To get swept at home? pathetic. They need to cut ticket prices in half or start showing they're worth it. I
hope JVR isn't leaving next year because they will suck without him. UNH football has done 10X more for fans as this team has. If they
don't win in Manchester in 2 weeks, Scarano needs to make changes. I'm not renewing my seasons tickets.
- Jim, Durham
OMG here we sit again with BC ending our season. I have great friends who went to, and support, BC but God I wish we could beat
these guys when it matters. I am so so tired of hearing UNH, University with NO Hardware. I know it is not true, but once again it feels
like we will never beat these guys. Good luck to BC and hopefully we'll get to play BU in Manchester and finally win a game that matters.
GO CATS
- Tom, Newport
Time for Umile to move on, under his leadership they really have a tough time winning the big games. Especially when they get to the
Final Four, he just can't bring the team to the next level. He is overpaid for a state run school.
- Andy, Wolfeboro
How many more years in a row do the "Cats tease us with top 10 rankings and then choke when it matters. And Umile is the biggest
choke of them all and the highest paid employee in the State to boot. The hoop team has struggled but at least their coach and team
have a pulse. If Scarano doesn't make a coaching change now, the college president should.
- SB, Bedford
I can already here tomorrow's tag line. "The guys played hard and just were not fortunate to find the back of the net. We will continue to
work and prepare in the next couple of weeks incase we get a bid in Manchester". says Dick Umile after a complete embarrasment of a
weekend at the Whit. Someone asked how can we balance the budget? Drop $350,000 of salary would be my proposal.
- John, Barrington
horrible horrible horrible. The coaching behind this weekend was just simply unexceptable. we have great talent , let the players use it.
- tammy day, rochester
UNH playing in Manchester is a joke! They don't deserve it and because they are the "host" school doesn't make it right. The best teams
should be seeded by quality and not geography. Try and get the best field there but to put a lower tiered school in their home arena
makes it less of a tournament by anyone's standards. Win during the year and earn a home spot, don't get handed one because you are
the host school. Terrible!!!!
- Tom, Newport
I am soooo happy that I am not the only person in the state that thinks Umile is not holding up his end of the 350k bargin. One player
(JVR) does not make a team. He was once again out coached by Jerry York. He will recruit more small and uneffective players in the
years to come only to make the wimpercats less desirable to watch. I can see why channel 11 decided not to show their games in the
cavernous whittamore center.
- Chris, Rindge
UNH makes this tournament and Boston College doesn't? Seriously? The
defending national champion that routes UNH in two straight games in
Durham doesn't get the chance to defend their crown? I'm a UNH fan, so
fine, whatever, I'll take it but you have to admit we don't deserve to be
playing. UNH fell ass backwards into this tournament. How h-UMILE-iating
is it going to be to lose another first round game in Manchester? Can't wait!
Marty Scarano: "He's clearly (Umile), in a simplistic way, one of the best hockey coaches out there
despite what our fans sometimes think."
Agreed! Yes, Marty, he is a great coach but he simply cannot win the big games that matter. Umile
has a proven track record of losing in the postseason. It is now embarrassing to be a fan of UNH
Hockey and YOU should be ASHAMED!
